I quickly became a master of the art of the “remote quickdraw” and was constantly lowering or increasing the volume on my TV.

I then decided to automate the process. I would make a device that can record commands from my remote and reproduce them.

My computer would store the IR-sequences for lowering and increasing the volume and it would use its microphone to listen to the audio volume level. It would then issue commands to lower or increase the volume as needed whenever the average volume level goes above or below certain thresholds.
